Fine Art Monographies Architecture Photography
Nicosia in Dark and White is an intimate look inside the long time abandoned buildings adjacent to the Green Line in Nicosia, the divided capital of Cyprus. Through 40 black and white photographs that span a period of four years Tzalavras captures on film the neglected part of an otherwise vibrant city.
“These black and white photographs of the dead zone bring the history of this land to life.” Eleni Mavrou, Mayor of Nicosia
“A tremendous collection of photographs – a fantastically atmospheric testimony, in images which seem to capture not just the picture but the sound and maybe even the smell/air quality of the moment. Wonderful.” Jane Draycott, poet
“Fascinating new book of photography offers an alternative view of the capital.” Cyprus Weekly
